Man-Made Masquerade

Man-Made Masquerade

yes i know these walls i know them well
i put them up around myself to dwell
you gotta get out
move out
you might as well
or you'll just end up
spent up
in this shell

i used to see for miles in every direction
and i'd sit for hours and hours with no objection
you gotta get out
move out
and be done
you can't spend
'til the bitter end
dreaming 'bout the sun

and if you just allow
yourself the power
to kick a hole
create a whole
different world
a world so big
it scares you
but was made to do
a simple job
a better job
than plucking strings
and hoping things
work out
you won't become a man-made masquerade

yes i know these string i know them well
they make a sound so sweet resonates round this cell
you gotta get out
move out
can't you tell
it's a mess
all you've left
a new hell

now i work the gears to pump the engines oil
it's enough to move but i've got nowhere to go
just gotta get out
and set out
on the road
set your sights
let the lights
guide you home

and just allow
yourself the power
to kick a hole
create a whole
different world
a world so big
it scares you
but was made to do
a simple job
a better job
than plucking strings
and hoping things
work out

for better
or just for a change
even if it all ends up
a broken trail
at least you'd learn
to set your sail
on different seas
to differently
see the place
you might have never known
you won't become a man-made masquerade

but a normal everyday man
who's made a mask
and joined the rest
in life's big parade
